SUMMARY:2018 Craft Beer Webinar Series – Common Lease Issues for the Craft Beer Industry
DESCRIPTION:Signing a lease can be an exciting step in your dream of opening a craft brewery or expanding in your current space. However\, craft brewery leases should contain certain provisions not found in standard leases for many other business ventures. Further still\, other “standard provisions” may be the subject of more negotiation in the context of a craft brewery business.  During this webinar\, Sam Brinker\, Esq. of Dinsmore & Shohl\, LLP\, will highlight why a lease review by competent counsel is important when starting a craft brewery and identify the common lease provisions which can cause issues to arise during negotiation and beyond. \nThis webinar will include discussion of the following topics: \n\nTiming for build out; tenant improvement costs and allocation\nTesting\nLicensing contingencies\nWarranties\nNuisance clauses and prohibition of animals on Premises\nCommon Area Expenses\nAssignment Rights\nPersonal Guaranties\nAgreed Uses – tasting rooms versus full breweries versus breweries with food service; merchandising\nSpecial termination rights\n\n

SUMMARY:2018 California Employment Law Update
DESCRIPTION:As California employers prepare for the new year\, part of their planning will include gearing up for new employment laws\, most of which go into effect January 1\, 2018. Employers can expect a wide array of changes that will warrant reviews or revisions to their existing employment forms and policies. \nTo help navigate these changes\, Dinsmore is pleased to host a complimentary 2018 Employment Law Update\, hosted by Partner Adriana Cara. The update will provide essential information to employers that will help them to avoid potential problems\, including: \n\nEmployers now prohibited from asking applicants about their salary history\, and benefits (AB 168). Learn what type of questions may open your company up to liability\, and the steps you will need to take to minimize the risk of liability at the hiring stage.\nEmployers are Now Prohibited from Requesting Criminal History Absent a Conditional Offer of Employment (AB 1008).  Find out how to modify your hiring process to comply with the new law’s mandates\, and what is meant by the requirement that employers engage in an “individual assessment” as to each applicant where he or she has a criminal history.\nNew Parent Leave Act Requires Small Employers to Provide Baby-Bonding Leave (AB 63).  Employers with at least 20 employees will now be required to provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to bond with a new child within a year of the child’s birth or adoption. Although unpaid\, affected employers will be required to maintain employee benefits.  Find out what you will need to do to comply\, and how this new law will interface with the California Family Rights Act (“CFRA”) and the federal Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”).\n\nThere is no cost for the event. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. PST. The hour-long presentation will commence at 8:00 a.m. PST. \nRSVP HERE\nWe look forward to seeing you!
