About the Firm

Candace L. Moon, Esq

Candace L. Moon, Esq

Founder

Since 2009, Candace L. Moon, Esq. has actively served over 450 craft beer breweries, including breweries-in-planning, nationwide. She discovered the need for specialized craft beer counsel while working as a bartender at world-famous Hamilton’s while attending law school in San Diego, California. Through her conversations with brewers, she identified that there were no attorneys catering to the legally complicated industry. As a result, Candace formed The Craft Beer Attorney, APC.

Candace specializes in business entity formation, alcoholic beverage law, contract review, trademark law, and general counsel. She is in demand as a guest speaker for brewers’ guild and association meetings and craft beer conferences nationwide on matters such as distribution laws and trademarks to ensure clients and breweries-in-planning are complying with industry standards and regulations. She has been featured in newspapers, magazines, television segments, and online throughout her remarkable career.

Candace received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia and her juris doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. She sat on the Board of Directors for Pink Boots Society and San Diego Brewers Guild. She is a member of several esteemed professional associations, including the Brewers Association and California Craft Brewers Association, and has received multiple awards and accolades for her work in the industry.

Shannon Lynette

Shannon Lynette

Licensing

Shannon started her career within the Hospitality realm at the age of 15 at a local Albuquerque Brewpub. Shirking her responsibility of polishing the copper host stand in favor of asking the brewer a million questions about beer styles and processes (and convincing the servers to tip her out in growlers in lieu of cash), she kindled a lifelong adulation of all things Craft Beer (and degeneracy).

Attending Northern Arizona University to study Political Science and International Studies, she filled the time between classes cleaning friends’ bathrooms in exchange for six packs and growlers of local Craft Beer. After school she continued to bartend, bringing her adulation of Craft Beer to an assortment of Blue-Collar Workers, Bikers, and Cowboys throughout Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. She landed in San Diego at AleSmith Brewing Company in 2013 and worked in a variety of positions behind the bar, doing weekend cellar work, brewery tours, and helping develop a Beer Education Training program. She left AleSmith in early 2016 to become the Hospitality Manager, and later part owner, of Burning Beard Brewing Company.
In August of 2021, her collegiate studies and hospitality experience coalesced when she joined the Craft Beer Attorney firm as a Licensing and Compliance Specialist. When not navigating the Licensing and Compliance realm or overwhelming hapless strangers with fun facts about beer, she enjoys watching Rugby, collecting Vinyl, reading through the stack of books she purchased as ‘a little treat’, and eating burritos outside of live music venues.
